JSJ Baits: Designed and fabricated in California by Josh St. John

Since the first Snack Size Trout came out in 2008, JSJ Baits has been making high quality, limited edition baits designed to catch big bass.

I’m a lifelong bass fisherman and former tournament competitive angler, as well as a designer and fabricator in many mediums, allowing me to combine my passion for fishing with the tools of prototyping and fabrication to create new designs.

Baits sold here are hand made in California in small batches, including the Snack Size Trout, Snack Size Bluegill and Time Bomb Bluegill jointed hard swimbaits, the Pack Rat soft creature bait, the Dirty Bird buzzbait, the Hitch Six swimbait, and the new Loose Caboose swimbait. You can see all of my current baits in my shop here>

What other people have to say:

Editor’s Choice Award JSJ Baits Snack Size Trout – Tackle Tour, May 2009

“This bait is a blast to fish and really easy to dedicate to throwing all day long. It entices quality sized fish into biting (a boon for tournament anglers) and what’s more, if you lose the bait to a snag or break off, they’re relatively easy to source – at least for now. Of course, in this instance, the melancholy of moving onto the next bait is tempered by the fact that sitting behind the Snack Sized Trout is its younger sibling, the Snack Sized Bluegill. For now, the best way to reinforce our recommendation for this product is to bestow upon it, TackleTour’s Editor’s Choice Award! It’s time for you to tie one on, toss it out, and crank up those lunkers!”

Matt Allen of Tactical Bassin’

“I’ll never forget the first day I got my hands on a Snack Size trout: It was a perfect Clear Lake morning, I was catching fish on a variety of baits but it was “chuck and wind” fishing. Even though it was producing it just wasn’t that fun. When I got my hands on the snack size and saw how aggressively you worked it with rips, jerks, and pops, it all clicked! The bites were EXPLOSIVE and I was hooked! Throughout the morning and into the afternoon your bait altered the way I throw big baits forever. You’ve put fun back in big bait fishing!”

JSJ Baits Snack Size Bluegill Review – Tackle Tour, Aug 2011

“It’s no secret that my preference when it comes to big baits, is with the hardbodied variety. They are not as easy to fish, nor are they as productive (on average) as the soft bodied variety, but the durability and artistry involved with these individually hand made and hand painted baits in particular, is what draws me to them. To think you can actually catch fish on them, well, that’s really just a bonus!“
